Angie Loy, two-time First Team All-American and 2003 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year, begins her second season with the Lady Monarchs. Loy began her coaching career serving as an undergraduate assistant with the Lady Monarchs in 2004 and will serve as a volunteer assistant in 2005.
As a senior in 2003, Loy led the Monarchs to their eighth consecutive CAA title and 23rd consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament earning first-team All-American honors from both the NFHCA and womensfieldhockey.com for the second consecutive season. Loy, named the CAA Tournament MVP, ranked second nationally with 69 points, 2.875 points per game, and 21 assists.
A native of Loysville, PA and graduate of West Perry High School, she finished her stellar career ranked fourth in career goals (77), ninth in career assists (56), and fourth all-time in scoring with 210 career points. She is also the third Lady Monarch in history to earn National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Academic Honor Roll honors for four consecutive years.
Loy continues her playing career having been named to the U.S. Field Hockey National Team roster on Dec. 8th, 2003. Playing under Old Dominion head coach Beth Anders, Loy was starting forward at the 2004 Olympic Qualifiers in New Zealand and took home a silver medal at the Pan Am Games in Barbados. She most recently was a part of the team which took part in the Champions Challenge at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach in the summer of 2005.
Personal: Born April 23, 1982...Daughter of Linda and Robert Loy...Has a brother Josh (27) and a sister Becky (25), a former Lady Monarch midfielder from 1998-2002...Majored in health and physical education.
