Cathy Large was an outstanding athlete in both field hockey and lacrosse. She was a first team All-American in field hockey and second team All-American in lacrosse as a senior. As a junior, she scored 67 goals in lacrosse
to rank second nationally. She scored 47 goals as a senior and completed her career with 177 goals, an Old Dominion record. She also scored 38 goals as a sophomore in lacrosse.
In field hockey, Large was a member of the 1984 NCAA National Championship team. She completed her field hockey career with 24 goals, 49 assists, and 73 total points. She ranks sixth in assists all-time and ninth all-time in points at Old Dominion.
Large was the Alumni Association's Female Athlete-of-the-Year both as a junior in 1987 and senior
in 1988. In lacrosse, Large was a four-time All-South Atlantic Region selection. She is currently coaching at her alma mater, Pennwood High School in Pennsylvania.
